The New Museum has selected Sarah Lucas to create the inaugural commission for its new public plaza on the Bowery. Titled VENUS VICTORIA, the sculpture was chosen by an all-artist jury including Cindy Sherman and Julie Mehretu and will remain on view for two years. The installation coincides with the opening of the museum’s OMA-designed building expansion and marks the first of five commissions planned over the next decade.
