Christie's to Stage '1935–36 Chinese Art International Exhibition' Tribute in Hong Kong

via Christie's

On June 15, 2026, Christie's announced a commemorative exhibition titled 'The Royal Academy of Arts '1935–36 International Exhibition of Chinese Art': A Tribute,' to be held in October 2026 at its Asia Pacific headquarters, The Henderson, in Hong Kong. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Daniel Eskenazi and coincides with the launch of his new six-volume scholarly publication, 'The 1935 London Art Exhibition,' which reproduces the original exhibition catalogue with over 2,000 photographs from newly surfaced historical negatives. The tribute marks Christie's 40th anniversary in Asia and revisits the landmark 1935–36 exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, which was a milestone in 20th-century cultural history. The show will feature masterworks from diverse periods and traditions, presented in a modern setting to bridge past and present.
