MALBA Founder Eduardo F. Costantini Receives Hispanic Society's Sorolla Medal in New York

via MALBA

On October 30, 2026, MALBA announced that Eduardo F. Costantini, founder and president of the museum, received the Sorolla Medal from the Hispanic Society Museum & Library in recognition of his significant contributions to Hispanic art and culture. The distinction was presented during the Hispanic Society's annual 2026 gala, held on October 29, 2026, at The Metropolitan Club in New York. The pattern this week

The week ran on exhibitions — 44 of 105 stories — with Paris (24) and New York (19) absorbing most of the traffic; auctions were thin at 14 and €29.7M aggregate. Institutional news clustered in Washington and Venice rather than in the salerooms, and the big galleries spent the week announcing talks, not sales.

€1,000,000 – 1,500,000 Artcurial's Lalanne & Bestiary Sale to Offer François-Xavier Lalanne's 'Capricorne' Estimated at €1M-1.5M

Lalanne's top beasts have held near €1M; Artcurial's estimate tests whether Paris design buyers still outbid the decorative-arts trade in a crowded November calendar.

Why it matters
Jaigarh Fort is a heritage venue, not a fair booth — Galleria Continua is betting Indian collectors will travel for site-specific work rather than wait for a Mumbai preview.

On October 30, 2026, Pace Gallery provided a preview of Elmgreen & Dragset's new monumental sculpture 'Eight' (2026), commissioned for the revitalized Sculpture Garden at the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn…

Why it matters

On October 30, 2026, Lisson Gallery announced that Sir John Akomfrah will participate in the second Manton Centre for British Art Lecture at The Courtauld in London on 17 November 2026. The artist…

Why it matters
The Manton Centre lecture is a soft-power slot — Lisson is putting Akomfrah in front of Courtauld curators well before any acquisition conversation would surface.
