The Facts
Pianist and composer Olivia Belli will make her Southbank Centre debut at the Purcell Room in London with a program of earlier works and tracks from her new Sony Classical album 'Daimon'. The concert features two world premieres: 'Terpsichore,' a new work for guitar and string quintet written for guitarist Rosie Bennet and performed with the Piatti Quartet, and a new quintet version of Belli's piano concerto 'Daimon'. It also includes the first live performance of a track from Belli's forthcoming Philip Glass 90th birthday tribute album. Based in Italy's Marche region, Belli is one of the most streamed Italian women artists, with over a billion streams and regular play on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and KEXP.
The Signal
The debut underscores how presenters are embracing streaming-era composers who can fill rooms beyond the classical niche. New commissions for Bennet, a Classic FM Rising Star, and the quintet 'Daimon' expand Belli's repertoire for live performance. Her Philip Glass tribute track ties her to a canonical minimalist tradition, potentially strengthening her institutional appeal.
