The Facts

Sharjah Art Foundation announced on November 4, 2026, that it will present Perhaps Here, a three-day programme premiering nine newly commissioned site-specific performances at Bait Al Serkal in Sharjah's Arts Square on November 6, 7 and 8, 2026, each evening at 8:30 pm. Returning for a second season within the fifth edition of Perform Sharjah, it spans performance, movement, music, poetry and immersive installation. Commissions include Mohammad Masharqa's Half Life, on the aftermath of incarceration for families; Jumairy's Is This It?, drawn from lucid dreaming and sleep paralysis; and 2 9 18 4, Selma and Sofiane Ouissi's 20-minute sequel to Bird (2023), scored partly by audience improvisation and a pigeon's movements. Others include Kinda El Atrach's The World Beyond the Walls and Safa Baluchi and Siddiq Baloch's Held at the Throat, drawing on Baloch Zahirok and Gwati musical practices.

The Signal

The programme extends Sharjah Art Foundation's strategy of commissioning and producing new work rather than importing touring pieces, staged in historic buildings it has repurposed as cultural venues. For curators and collectors tracking Gulf institutional programming, a nine-commission roster spanning music, poetry and immersive installation signals the scale of production support available in Sharjah.
