Sprüth Magers Artist Nora Turato Debuts Site-Specific Facade Commission at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein
Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) in Berlin presents Nora Turato's installation they filled me up with words on the institution's facade. The work originates from the artist's latest cycle and the performance pool7, which receives its German premiere at Uferstudios on October 28, 2025. Turato, who was born in 1991 in Zagreb and lives in Amsterdam, draws on found language from the internet, social media, news, literature, films, music, and conversations for her wall pieces, videos, sound works, performances, and the pool artist book series. The performance will be followed by an artist talk with curator Lidiya Anastasova.
The Signal
The project marks a shift in Turato's practice by using her own body as a source of language, likening years of ingesting words to acts of devouring, digesting, and retching. Handwriting in the work connects directly to her performative practice, contrasting with typography that replaces the hand. Turato has held recent solo exhibitions at the ICA London, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Kunsthalle Wien, and the Museum of Modern Art New York.
