Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam to Host New Performance Work by Nora Turato
Nora Turato presents her performance pool7 at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam on August 29. The work uses exclusively self-written material performed through physical gestures including convulsions and tremors, with no recordings or documentation permitted. The performance accompanies Turato’s site-specific video and sound installation I HEAR YOU, I HEAR YOU, currently on view in the museum’s IN SITU series. An artist talk with curator Melanie Bühler takes place on August 31 from 2:00 to 3:15 PM.
The Signal
The live-only format and explicit content restrictions signal a deliberate resistance to digital circulation at a moment when AI-generated language is proliferating. For curators and collectors tracking performance art, the event underscores Turato’s pivot from found social-media text to embodied, non-reproducible material, potentially elevating the market value of her live works and related editions. The pairing with the ongoing IN SITU installation further positions the Stedelijk as a platform for artists testing new boundaries between language, body, and technology.
