Stedelijk Museum to Host Ivna Esajas Exhibition Following ABN AMRO Art Award Win
The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam will present Ivna Esajas' exhibition Wayward Lines. Consent Not to Be a Single Being from March 7, 2026. The show forms part of the 13th ABN AMRO Art Award, which Esajas won last year. Esajas invited artists Siomara Ratna van Bochove, Sondi and Jaasir Linger, as well as DJ LOVESUPREME, to contribute, and the exhibition is curated by Amal Alhaag.
The Signal
The award's emphasis on female talent in the Netherlands and its requirement for a collective approach signal institutional support for collaborative models over solo presentations. Esajas' call-and-response structure and the accompanying reader compiled by Alhaag and designed by Irma Boom Office extend the platform to multiple voices on Black positionality and shared authorship. Acquisition of the laureate's work for the ABN AMRO Art Collection further ties the prize to long-term institutional holdings.
