Stedelijk Museum to Premiere Durational Performance by Miles Greenberg in November 2025
The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam presents the premiere of Flaying of Marsyas, a new durational performance by artist Miles Greenberg, on November 13, 2025. The performance takes place throughout the museum’s opening hours from 11 AM to 6 PM in the IMC Gallery of Honor and will be presented only once. Titled after the mythological satyr flayed by Apollo, the work features Greenberg’s body painted matte black and covered in oil and pigment. Greenberg, born in 1997 in Montreal and based in New York, previously presented Sebastian at the 2024 Venice Biennale.
The Signal
The single presentation at the Stedelijk positions Greenberg’s practice within a major European collection known for performance programming, following his appearances at the Louvre and New Museum. For curators and collectors, the event illustrates continued institutional support for durational works that reinterpret classical sources through live sculpture. The one-time format and subsequent potential for video or sculptural editions underscore the market emphasis on documentation of ephemeral performances.
