The Facts
The Studio Museum in Harlem announced on November 4, 2026, the appointment of Ade Omotosho as Associate Curator, effective November 16, 2026. Omotosho will report to Chief Program Officer Natasha Logan and oversee the long-term planning and care of the museum's permanent collection, which spans the 19th through 21st centuries, represents more than 800 artists, and includes approximately 9,000 objects. He arrives as the institution marks the end of its first year in a new building designed by Adjaye Associates, which opened November 15, 2025. By the end of 2026, nearly 500 works from the collection will have been displayed.
The Signal
The appointment signals the Studio Museum's strategic focus on its permanent collection following the move to a purpose-built facility with expanded exhibition space. Omotosho, a 2025 participant in the museum's Arts Leadership Praxis program, brings experience as the Nancy and Tim Hanley Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, with prior roles at Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. His hiring underscores a broader institutional push to deepen collection-based programming and curatorial leadership as the museum enters a new chapter in Harlem.
