Tate Acquires Works by Barbara Walker and Lubna Chowdhary via £150,000 Frieze Tate Fund
Tate has acquired two works through the Frieze Tate Fund, supported by £150,000 in philanthropic donations. Lubna Chowdhary’s ceramic installation Assembly (2025) was purchased from Jhaveri Contemporary and Barbara Walker’s drawing End of the Affair II (2025) was purchased from Victoria Miro, both at Frieze London. A further work, Madge Gill’s Untitled (Venus Mid Heaven) (1920/30), was acquired as a promised gift from Lance Uggla. Since Frieze London launched in 2003, Tate has acquired more than 170 works by over 100 artists at the fair.
The Signal
The purchases add to displays already on view at Tate Modern and Tate Britain, including works bought in 2023. The Frieze Tate Fund continues to channel private support into public collections that reach millions of visitors across the UK and internationally. The selection panel, led by Director of Collection Gregor Muir, underscores Tate’s focus on contemporary British and international artists acquired directly from the fair.
