Tate Announces 2027 Programme Featuring David Hockney Retrospectives, Monet, and Turner Prize in St Ives
Tate has announced its 2027 exhibition programme across its four sites. Tate Modern will present the first UK solo exhibition of Baya, a Monet exhibition running 25 February to 27 June 2027, a David Hockney multimedia installation in the Turbine Hall, and shows dedicated to Edvard Munch, Nalini Malani and Lynda Benglis. Tate Britain will stage a Sonia Boyce survey from 24 March to 22 August 2027, a Gainsborough exhibition marking the 300th anniversary of the artist’s birth from 20 May to 10 October 2027, and a large-scale David Hockney retrospective from 7 October 2027 to 20 February 2028. Tate St Ives will host the Turner Prize exhibition from 21 October 2027 to 23 January 2028, while Tate Liverpool reopens with a Chila Kumari Singh Burman survey.
The Signal
The programme positions Tate as a central platform for both historic and living artists at career milestones, with the first Turner Prize outside London and multiple large-scale commissions likely to shape public and critical attention for the selected figures. Collectors and curators will note the emphasis on multidisciplinary and multimedia practices across the announced shows, alongside continued free collection displays and the Art Now series. The leadership transition to Interim Director Karin Hindsbo occurs alongside the announcement of this multi-year schedule.
