TEFAF Appoints Maarten ten Holder as Managing Director
On June 8, 2026, TEFAF announced the appointment of Maarten ten Holder as Managing Director, effective immediately. Ten Holder succeeds Interim Managing Director Eltje de Klerk and brings more than three decades of leadership experience from senior roles at Gurr Johns, Bonhams, RM Sotheby’s, and Sotheby’s across New York, London, Milan, and Amsterdam. The announcement also includes new appointments to the TEFAF Executive Committee and Board of Trustees: Jonathan Green and Laura Kugel to the Executive Committee, and Bob Albricht and Ollivier Chenel to the Board.
The Signal
The move positions TEFAF to leverage ten Holder’s track record of doubling auction sales and expanding digital and international platforms, which may strengthen the fair’s competitive edge against other global events. Collectors and dealers should note the addition of specialists in Old Masters, Impressionist works, and antiquities to governance roles, indicating continued emphasis on rigorous vetting and provenance standards at the Maastricht and New York fairs.
