The Facts
On October 26, 2026, Thaddaeus Ropac gallery announced that Oliver Beer's 'Resonance Project: The Cave' will open at Kiasma in Helsinki on November 6, 2026, running through March 28, 2027. The immersive installation transforms the museum's top floor into a prehistoric cave, inspired by the ancient paintings of Font-de-Gaume in southwestern France. Beer was granted rare permission to work and film inside the cave, which is generally closed to protect its artwork created more than 15,000 years ago.
The Signal
The exhibition deepens the dialogue between contemporary art and prehistoric expression, leveraging Beer's signature acoustic research to recreate the cave's extraordinary soundscape. It underscores the growing institutional appetite for immersive, multi-sensory installations that engage with history, and positions Kiasma as a venue for experimental sound art. For collectors, it highlights Beer's expanding international profile and the market appeal of site-specific works tied to archaeologically significant sites.
