Uffizi Galleries Expands Collection and Exhibition Programming Through 'Disseminating Art' Project
The Uffizi Galleries has expanded its permanent collection with the acquisition of Francesco Hayez’s 'Portrait of Colonel Arese Lucini in prison' and the addition of photographic self-portraits by Giuseppe Penone, Ilaria Sagaria, and Liu Bolin. The institution has also opened 12 new rooms featuring 255 works spanning 600 years of art history, ranging from Taddeo Gaddi to Yan Pei-Ming. In collaboration with Fondazione CR Firenze, the 'Disseminating Art' project continues to support six new exhibitions and the enhancement of various Tuscan villages. Additionally, the museum has completed a 20-month restoration of Roman masterpieces located in the Boboli Gardens.
