The Facts

On October 13, 2026, Sadie Coles HQ announced that Alex Da Corte's 'Hot Dog with Ketchup' (2026) is now on view on the facade of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, facing Gansevoort Street and the High Line. The work, a reproduction of Roy Lichtenstein's 1963 painting 'Hot Dog' overpainted with a sweeping ketchup gesture, will remain on display until May 10, 2027. It is part of the museum's 'Outside of the Box' programming and coincides with the exhibition 'Roy Lichtenstein: Like New,' which opened October 11, 2026 and is co-curated by Da Corte and Meg Onli.

The Signal

The installation transforms a canonical Pop image through Da Corte's signature irreverence, merging Lichtenstein's commercial aesthetic with the gestural mark of Abstract Expressionism. By referencing the hot dog vendors across the street, Da Corte grounds the art-historical dialogue in the immediate public life of the neighborhood. For collectors and curators, the project underscores Da Corte's rising institutional profile and his ability to bridge high-art references with site-specific, accessible interventions.
