ARCOlisboa 2026 Opens at Cordoaria Nacional with 83 Galleries from 17 Countries
ARCOlisboa 2026 opened at the Cordoaria Nacional in Lisbon, attended by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Margarida Balseiro Lopes, Mayor of Lisbon Carlos Moedas and ARCOlisboa Director Maribel López. The fair runs until May 31 and features 83 galleries from 17 countries, including 30 Portuguese and 53 international participants. Organised by IFEMA MADRID in collaboration with the Lisbon City Council, the event is divided into three main sections and includes a parallel programme of exhibitions, talks and presentations.
The Signal
The fair’s decision to offer free admission to visitors under 25 on May 29 and 30 signals an effort to broaden access to contemporary art among younger collectors and audiences in Portugal. With 53 international galleries participating, the edition provides a clear snapshot of Lisbon’s growing role as a gateway for European and global contemporary art networks, useful for curators and collectors tracking emerging market activity outside traditional hubs.
