Artcurial Impressionist, Modern, and Contemporary Sales Total €11.2 Million in Paris
Artcurial's Impressionist & Modern Art and Post-War & Contemporary Art auctions totalled €11,245,009 including fees. A rediscovered 1889 panel by Paul Gauguin titled Untitled (Head of a woman – Lisa Sainsbury) sold for €1,006,240. Francis Bacon's oil on canvas reached €1,475,355 while a 1874 Eugène Boudin view of Bordeaux quays fetched €291,280. Bronze works by Rembrandt Bugatti, an Arman accumulation of violins, a Zhang Xiaogang canvas and an Aboudia work also sold, with the Museum of Art and History of Judaism exercising a pre-emption.
The Signal
The results demonstrate sustained demand for rediscovered Impressionist pieces and established Post-War names at mid-market levels in Paris. Collectors may note the €722,110 realised by the Château de Vascoeuil sculpture collection as evidence of private-trove dispersal strength. Institutional interest from the Museum of Art and History of Judaism signals continued public-sector support for specific historic and contemporary lots.
