Bonhams Fine Jewellery London Sale Realizes 98% by Value, Led by Cartier and Natural Pearls
Bonhams held its Fine Jewellery London auction on March 25, 2026. The 273-lot sale was 87% sold by lot and 98% by value. The top lot, a Cartier diamond 'C de Cartier' necklace, achieved £40,960 against a pre-sale estimate of £18,000-25,000. Other highlights included a natural pearl and diamond necklace that sold for £38,400 and a sapphire and diamond pendant that reached £35,840.
The Signal
The results indicate sustained collector demand for signed period jewels and pieces with strong provenance. Multiple lots from houses including Cartier, Tiffany & Co. and Graff exceeded estimates by two to nine times, reflecting premiums for natural pearls, coloured gemstones and documented heritage. These outcomes point to continued strength in the market for exceptional craftsmanship over generic modern designs.
