Laura Lamiel has installed works across the twenty-four display cases of the Passage and the Machine Room at the Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection. The French artist, born in 1943, composed site-specific pieces using found objects, fabrics, glass, mirrors, fluorescent tubes and chalk dust to explore light, shadow and the tension between presence and absence. The installations form part of the exhibition Clair-obscur and remain on view during regular museum hours.

The Signal

Lamiel’s approach to fragile materials and selective illumination offers collectors and curators a model for presenting intimate, perceptual work within historic institutional architecture. The recurrence of motifs across the cases demonstrates how an artist can sustain a single vocabulary over multiple decades while adapting it to a new spatial context, a strategy that continues to shape contemporary installation practice.
