Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection Stages 'Clair-obscur' Exhibition with 100 Works
On June 16, 2026, the Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection opened the exhibition 'Clair-obscur,' presenting around 100 works from the collection, including modern pieces shown for the first time. The show examines the legacy of chiaroscuro from the 16th century through Caravaggio and Goya to contemporary artists such as Sigmar Polke, Philippe Parreno, Victor Man, Bill Viola, Laura Lamiel, Pierre Huyghe and Fujiko Nakaya. Curated by Emma Lavigne, it runs until August 24, 2026, and features Nakaya's site-specific Fog Sculpture Cloud #07156 in the Rotonde.
The Signal
The exhibition demonstrates how the Pinault Collection deploys historical visual strategies to frame current artistic production, giving collectors and curators a clear signal on the continued institutional value of artists who engage with light, shadow and material memory. By placing works by Polke, Parreno and Man alongside earlier masters, the museum underscores a sustained curatorial interest in narrative and atmospheric depth that can influence acquisition timing and programming decisions at peer institutions.
