Devon Turnbull, also known as OJAS, has created the HiFi Pursuit Listening Room Dream No. 3 for the exhibition “Art of Noise” at the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York. The work occupies a dedicated space in the former library of Andrew Carnegie and plays music on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m., with playlists at other times and occasional high-profile guests including Josh Safdie, Laraaji, and Tom Sachs. The exhibition originated at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2024 and runs in New York from February 13 through August 16. Turnbull previously showed at Lisson Gallery in New York and has built sound systems for Virgil Abloh, Supreme, and Public Records.

The Signal

Turnbull’s inclusion signals growing institutional interest in functional, music-driven design as fine art, expanding Lisson’s program beyond traditional sculpture and installation. For collectors, the project underscores the market value of immersive, site-specific audio environments that bridge design, music, and visual art, particularly when placed in historic museum settings with public programming.
