Born in Concord, New Hampshire, George Condo emerged as a significant figure in the New York art scene during the 1980s. He gained early recognition for his technical proficiency and his ability to synthesize art historical references with a contemporary, often surreal, sensibility.
Condo works across painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking, frequently exploring the human condition through exaggerated facial features and distorted anatomy. His signature approach, which he terms psychological Cubism, allows him to depict multiple emotional states simultaneously within a single portrait.
His work continues to maintain a strong presence in the international art market, with recent exhibitions and auction appearances highlighting his ongoing influence. He remains a fixture in contemporary galleries, with new works such as Abstract Human (2025) continuing to evolve his exploration of the human form.
