Born in La Paila, Colombia, in 1986, Oscar Murillo moved to London as a child, where he later pursued his formal art education. He earned his BA from the University of Westminster and his MFA from the Royal College of Art in London, establishing himself within the contemporary art scene through his expansive, process-oriented practice.

His work spans painting, video, sculpture, and performance, frequently utilizing materials such as raw canvas, dirt, and recycled studio scraps. His signature aesthetic often involves layering dark, expressive marks that evoke the history of industrial labor and the movement of people across borders.
