Award ARCO Madrid

Fundación ARCO presented the “A” Awards for Collecting recognizing four collections: the Juan Antonio Pérez Simón Collection for the Helga de Alvear Award, the Laurent Dumas Collection for the International Collection Award, the Gabriel Calparsoro Collection for the National Private Collection Award and MACBA Studio for the Young Collector Award. The awards ceremony takes place on 3 March at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid followed by a dinner in collaboration with Cartier to raise funds for acquisitions at ARCOmadrid 2026 for the CA2M collection. The Pérez Simón Collection holds more than 4,000 works and over 50,000 library volumes spanning Old Masters to contemporary art while the Dumas Collection focuses on French art from the 1960s to the present with works by artists including Jean-Michel Alberola, Annette Messager and Adel Abdessemed.

The Signal

The awards underscore institutional recognition of private and young collectors' roles in supporting contemporary art dissemination and acquisitions. Dumas's planned Pointe des Arts centre opening in Fall 2026 on Île Seguin and the new Calparsoro Foundation's presentation of Isaac Julien's installation in March 2026 signal expanded platforms for French and international artists. MACBA Studio's contributions to acquisitions by Teresa Solar, Esther Ferrer and others demonstrate how young patronage models strengthen museum collections and gallery networks in Barcelona and beyond.
