The Facts
On August 19, 2026, Galerie Max Hetzler announced a series of Eddie Martinez projects, led by a presentation at the Albertina Klosterneuburg pairing 350 works on paper by Martinez with drawings by Georg Baselitz, part of 'Donated with Love.' His debut monograph, 'Eddie Martinez: 20 Years of Painting,' includes essays by Dan Nadel and Ross Simonini, and his sculpture 'Untitled, 2026' is on view at Riverfront Park in Newark for ARTS 14C's 'The Art of the Game,' with 23 artists reimagining the football. Martinez is also in 'Let Us Gather in a Flourishing Way' at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, traveling to Des Moines, Denver, Phoenix, and Seattle, and in 'Super Duper' at Gallery Met at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, curated by Dodie Kazanjian and Donatien Grau.
The Signal
The coordinated museum placements strengthen Martinez's institutional standing across drawing, painting, and public sculpture. For collectors, the Baselitz pairing positions him in an expressionist draftsmanship lineage, while the touring Latinx survey and opera-house presentation widen his audience. The monograph offers a market reference for a painter spanning abstraction and figuration.
