Exhibition Galerie Max Hetzler

On June 28, 2025, Galerie Max Hetzler announced that André Butzer's work is featured in numerous group exhibitions and permanent collection displays across international institutions. These include "Visual Dialogue" at Museum Pier in Bangkok, "Aufnahmezustand: Sammlungszugänge aus den Jahren 2021–2025" at Brandenburgisches Landesmuseum für moderne Kunst (Rathaushalle, Frankfurt (Oder) and Dieselkraftwerk, Cottbus), the inaugural exhibition "Abrir Abril" at MUZEU in Braga, "Picture Universe #3 Leipzig in Dialogue" at Museum der bildenden Künste in Leipzig, and "Madrid Collects. 50 Contemporary Art Collections" at CentroCentro in Madrid. Butzer's painting "Untitled (Paula Modersohn-Becker)" is included in "Becoming Paula" at the Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum in Bremen, marking the artist's 150th anniversary. His works are also on view at Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani de Palma, Hamburger Kunsthalle, Rubbell Museum in Miami, and the Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main, which recently acquired a reiteration of his 'Frauenbildnisse'. A sculpture, "Untitled [Leben ist Tod ... und der Tod ist auch ein Leben]", will be permanently installed at Bibliothek Günther Förg from August 2, 2025. Butzer's painting "Untitled (Fränzi)" is now part of the permanent collection display at Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, placed near its inspiration, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's work.

The Signal

The breadth of Butzer's institutional presence—spanning museums in Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, Austria, Thailand, Portugal, and the United States—signals his growing international recognition and market stability. For collectors, this deep institutional validation across multiple continents reinforces Butzer's standing as a significant contemporary painter, with his works entering collections that span 700 years of art history, such as the Städel Museum. The concurrent release of several publications, including "Farben, Früchte, Bilder" and "Die Jahreszeiten / The Seasons" (published October 17, 2025), along with the comprehensive survey "See The Vision" and the fourth volume of his collected writings, provides extensive documentation that supports both scholarly interest and market liquidity. This coordinated institutional and publishing activity suggests a strategic effort to cement Butzer's legacy and broaden his collector base beyond his established European market.
