Getty Museum Expands Mindfulness Programming and Announces New Video Podcast Launch
The Getty Museum offers mindfulness-based tours including the Breathe Tour, Art & Nature Tour, Memento Mori and Moving Mindfully tours led by head of education Keishia Gu. These programs, begun in 2016, pair focused breathing and embodied looking with works by Auguste Rodin, Joseph Ducreaux and Franz Xaver Messerschmidt at the Getty Museum. The Art Impact initiative delivers multi-session mindfulness experiences for teens, while the annual Wellness Day for Educators serves more than 500 teachers with meditation, yoga and nature walks.
The Signal
The museum’s approach demonstrates how art institutions can function as sites of restoration and social connection rather than solely information delivery. By extending access through the forthcoming OMMM podcast and ongoing partnerships with health researchers, Getty signals a sustained institutional commitment to wellness programming that collectors, educators and visitors can integrate into daily practice.
