Gladstone Gallery Announces Kerstin Brätsch Site-Specific Exhibition at Casa São Roque in Porto
German artist Kerstin Brätsch presents her most ambitious installation to date at Casa São Roque in Porto. The exhibition, which runs from October 18, 2025 through May 2026, transforms the rooms of the eclectic house with videos, paintings, drawings, wallpaper and kites. Brätsch collaborates with artists including Adele Röder, Debo Eilers and Ei Arakawa-Nash as well as craftsmen Urs Rickenbach, Dirk Lange and Walter Cipriani.
The Signal
The project examines the nature of abstraction in the 21st century by treating digital imagery, psychological states, gestural marks and chance operations as equivalent sources. Brätsch’s collective yet singular practice signals a shift toward distributed authorship in contemporary painting. Collectors and curators will note the emphasis on immersive, site-responsive environments that test traditional boundaries between medium and psyche.
