Kunsthaus Zürich Appoints Remo Longhi as Head of Operations
On September 30, 2025, Kunsthaus Zürich announced the appointment of Remo Longhi as its new Head of Operations. Longhi will oversee finance, administration, security, IT, and infrastructure as a member of the executive board, working closely with Director Ann Demeester and the board of the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft. Born in 1981 in Stansstad, Nidwalden, he has served as Commercial Director and Deputy Director of Fotomuseum Winterthur since 2018, and previously held the same role at the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur. He is set to assume his new position in January 2026.
The Signal
The appointment signals a strategic consolidation for Kunsthaus Zürich, Switzerland's largest art museum, as it seeks to strengthen its operational backbone amid ongoing institutional growth. Demeester emphasized Longhi's behind-the-scenes museum experience, which will be critical for maintaining financial stability and operational efficiency. For a museum of this scale, hiring a candidate with a dual background in finance and cultural management reflects a broader trend of museums prioritizing robust administrative leadership alongside curatorial vision.
