LACMA to Present Major Solo Exhibition by Tavares Strachan in Collaboration with Columbus Museum of Art
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art presents Tavares Strachan: The Day Tomorrow Began, the artist’s first major museum exhibition in Los Angeles. The exhibition introduces more than 20 new works, including the artist’s most expansive neon piece and one of his largest sculptures to date. Curated by Diana Nawi, Curator of Contemporary Art at LACMA, it is co-organized with the Columbus Museum of Art and made possible by The Hyundai Project at LACMA.
The Signal
The presentation underscores LACMA’s commitment to artists addressing overlooked histories in the Black diaspora through immersive, multi-sensory installations. The Hyundai Project, launched in 2015, represents the museum’s longest and largest corporate programmatic partnership, signaling sustained institutional support for contemporary projects that expand historical narratives.
