The Los Angeles County Museum of Art presents a multisensory installation by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The exhibition SUEÑO PERRO marks the 25th anniversary of the filmmaker’s debut feature Amores perros. It features never-before-seen footage from the film archives at the National Autonomous University of Mexico that explores themes of love, betrayal, and violence in Mexico City. The presentation is curated by Deliasofia Zacarias, chief of staff and curatorial assistant in the Director’s Office.

The Signal

The project demonstrates how museums are repurposing archival film material for immersive installations that connect cinema history with visual art. It provides curators and collectors with a model for presenting long-buried footage in institutional contexts while highlighting the continued sociopolitical resonance of Iñárritu’s early work. The LACMA show illustrates a growing institutional strategy of bridging film and contemporary art programming.
