LACMA to Present Youssef Nabil’s 'I Saved My Belly Dancer' Following 2025 Acquisition
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art presents Now Showing: Youssef Nabil’s I Saved My Belly Dancer. The exhibition marks the first public presentation of the 2015 film since it entered the museum’s collection in 2025. It is curated by Linda Komaroff, Curator and Department Head, Art of the Middle East, LACMA. The presentation coincides with the film’s 10th anniversary this year.
The Signal
The display underscores LACMA’s strategy of integrating film works from Middle Eastern artists into its permanent holdings. For curators and collectors it signals sustained institutional focus on Nabil’s practice and the role of such acquisitions in shaping public access to moving-image art.
