Lehmann Maupin Now Represents American Artist Tammy Nguyen
The Facts
Lehmann Maupin has announced its representation of American artist Tammy Nguyen, known for a multidisciplinary practice spanning paintings, drawings, artist books, prints, and zines. Her work explores intersections of geopolitics, ecology, and lesser-known histories. Nguyen's work is currently on view with Printed Matter at NADA New York, where she curated a presentation of artists' books alongside a new limited edition print. Her work will also be featured in Lehmann Maupin's upcoming presentation at Art Basel in June.
The Signal
Nguyen's practice encompasses both traditional fine arts and publishing through her imprint, Passenger Pigeon Press, which produces Martha's Quarterly, a subscription of artist books and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her paintings often expand from her artist books, engaging themes such as the Bandung conference, the Forest City development project in Malaysia, and the endangered red-shanked douc langur. Nguyen received a Fulbright fellowship in 2008 to study lacquer painting in Vietnam. The gallery's representation signals a deepening commitment to artists whose work bridges political and ecological narratives, offering collectors access to Nguyen's layered, research-driven output that challenges conventional reading of history and image.
