The Facts

Lucy Raven and Deantoni Parks will present a live film-performance of Raven's 'Murderers Bar' (2025) on July 28, 2026, at T-Lazy-7 Ranch in the Roaring Fork Valley, Colorado, hosted by the Aspen Art Museum. The outdoor event, produced in collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival and School, features Parks leading an ensemble of strings, percussion, and wind instruments in a newly commissioned score. The film, the final installment of Raven's series 'The Drumfire' (2021–25), documents the largest dam removal in US history on the Klamath River in Northern California, using aerial cinematography and underwater imaging. It is projected vertically on a monumental curved screen amid aspens, with Pyramid Peak as a backdrop, and traces the river's surge to the Pacific following the dam's detonation.

The Signal

The performance underscores Lisson Gallery's commitment to site-specific, interdisciplinary works that engage environmental and political themes. For collectors and curators, Raven's piece highlights a growing trend of artists addressing ecological restoration and Indigenous land rights through immersive, live presentations. The collaboration with Aspen Music Festival also signals a broader institutional interest in merging moving-image art with live music, expanding the market for experiential works beyond traditional gallery settings. Raven's focus on the Klamath River restoration, supported by Tribal Nations, adds a layer of cultural relevance that may increase the work's significance for institutions focused on decolonization and environmental justice.
