Louisiana Museum of Modern Art Features Monumental Works by David Hockney and Michel Majerus in Concert Hall
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art maintains two monumental works on permanent display in its Concert Hall. David Hockney’s 2 x 7.5 metre Grand Canyon painting from 1998 forms a central piece in the collection, while Michel Majerus’s ‘Weißes Bild’ from 1994 hangs opposite. The Berlin-based Majerus produced more than 2000 works before his death in 2002. The hall, added in 1967 by architects Bo & Wohlert with chairs by Poul Kjærholm, is accessible to all museum guests except during events.
The Signal
The permanent installation underscores the museum’s commitment to large-scale contemporary works that blend pop art traditions with digital techniques. Collectors and curators can assess how these acquisitions anchor Louisiana’s holdings and signal institutional priorities for visitor engagement with painting and mixed-media practices.
