The Facts
On September 2, 2026, M+, Asia's global museum of contemporary visual culture in Hong Kong, announced its 2027 exhibition and moving image programmes and the launch of M+ Academy, a professional development initiative for cultural leaders in Asia. Key exhibitions include 'Hong Kong: Here and Beyond 2027' (March 2027), 'Landmarks: Architecture in Asia for the 21st Century' (June 2027), and 'Do Ho Suh: Belonging' (September 2027)—the artist's first solo exhibition in Greater China, co-organised with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea. Other presentations feature Lin Tianmiao and Wang Gongxin (December 2026), Sarah Sze (February 2027), LuYang (February 2027), Geoffrey Bawa (June 2027), Tarek Atoui (summer 2027), and the Sigg Prize 2027 exhibition (October 2027). Moving image programmes include new Facade commissions by Sarah Sze, Fruit Chan, and Theo Triantafyllidis, and a new cycle of M+ Restored film restorations.
The Signal
The breadth of M+'s 2027 programme underscores its strategy to position itself as a gateway museum in Asia, building on institutional partnerships across the region. The launch of M+ Academy addresses a critical need for professional training in Asia's expanding museum sector. For collectors and curators, the Do Ho Suh exhibition signals growing institutional attention to Korean diaspora art, while the Sigg Prize continues to elevate Chinese contemporary art globally.
