The Facts

Frieze Seoul 2026 will take place at COEX from September 2 to 5, 2026, with a citywide program of 10 exhibitions across major Seoul institutions. Highlights include Leeum Museum of Art's largest-ever solo show of Koo Jeong A (September 5–December 27, 2026), Amorepacific Museum of Art's first South Korean retrospective of Sol LeWitt (September 1, 2026–February 28, 2027), and Seoul Museum of Art's 110th-anniversary survey of Yoo Youngkuk (May 19–October 25, 2026). Other featured venues include FUTURASeoul with Es Devlin (August 20, 2026–January 17, 2027), the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul with Do Ho Suh (August 27, 2026–February 9, 2027), and Sehwa Museum of Art with a posthumous Georg Baselitz retrospective (August 13–December 27, 2026). Centre Pompidou Hanwha will present a Cubism survey (June 4–October 4, 2026), while Art Sonje Center, Lotte Museum, and Museum SAN also host solo shows.

The Signal

The breadth of this program underscores Frieze Seoul's strategy to position itself as a nexus for both global blue-chip names and Korean modern masters, drawing collectors to the city during fair week. The inclusion of posthumous tributes to Baselitz (who died in April 2026) and the rare survey of Sol LeWitt signal the fair's ability to secure institutional-caliber exhibitions. For galleries participating in the fair, the citywide program provides a broader cultural context, potentially driving foot traffic to stands featuring artists like Koo Jeong A (PKM Gallery), Do Ho Suh (Lehmann Maupin and STPI), and Georg Baselitz (Thaddaeus Ropac and White Cube).
