The Facts
On October 21, 2026, M+ announced a three-year extension of its partnership with CHANEL, elevating CHANEL to Lead Partner. The initial 2023 partnership focused on moving image; the expanded collaboration launches Pioneering Visions, a series of exhibitions, public programs, and digital content highlighting Asian and Asia-focused artists. The first exhibition, Sarah Sze: Centrifuge, opens at M+ Focus Gallery in February 2027. A digital hub is now live on the M+ website. CHANEL continues to support M+'s moving image initiatives, including a curatorial position and film restoration.
The Signal
The extended partnership signals a deepening of corporate patronage in Asia's cultural sector, providing M+ with sustained resources to develop interdisciplinary programming. For collectors and curators, the focus on Asian voices through Pioneering Visions may strengthen M+'s position as a key institution for contemporary Asian art. This collaboration reflects a broader trend of luxury brands forging long-term museum alliances to enhance cultural engagement.
