MOCA Cleveland will present "Tishan Hsu: permeable surface" from August 28, 2026 through March 7, 2027. The exhibition spans Hsu's four-decade career, including his first and most recent video works: "Folds of Oil" (2005) and "emergent mesh" (2025). Trained in fine art and architectural design, Hsu's work merges digital imagery, industrial materials, and biomorphic forms to explore the human body's entanglement with technology. Though recognized in the 1980s with New York solo shows, Hsu worked largely outside the public eye for decades, refining his visual language that blurs boundaries between flesh and digital systems.
