MoMA PS1 has selected Precious Okoyomon for the inaugural Courtyard Commission at its Long Island City location. The Nigerian-American artist born in 1993 will create a living forest containing a large-scale interactive bear sculpture developed with the nursery issima. The installation opens July 2026 and invites visitors to enter the bear for a multi-sensory experience before exiting through its mouth.
The Signal
The project marks a significant institutional platform for Okoyomon and underscores MoMA PS1's strategy of commissioning immersive outdoor works. For collectors and curators the commission signals sustained museum-level interest in the artist's practice of blending sculpture with living elements.
