Pearlman Foundation to Gift Impressionist and Modern Collection to LACMA, MoMA, and Brooklyn Museum
The Henry and Rose Pearlman Foundation announced on August 4, 2025, that its entire collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and modern artworks will be gifted to the Brooklyn Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art. The novel sharing arrangement will allow the works to reach larger and more diverse audiences through changing contexts. The collection will travel as an exhibition titled Village Square: Gifts of Modern Art from the Pearlman Collection to the Brooklyn Museum, LACMA, and MoMA before being placed with the institutions. It will be on view at LACMA from February to July 2026 and then travel to the Brooklyn Museum in the fall of 2026.
The Signal
This distributed gift signals a collaborative model among major institutions that could set precedents for future bequests of significant collections. Collectors may note the emphasis on accessibility and rotating displays as enhancing the long-term value and visibility of such holdings. The arrangement underscores institutional strategies to broaden public engagement with modern art across different regions.
