Sadie Coles HQ: Swiss Institute's 40th Anniversary 'Regift' Exhibition in Zurich
On July 9, 2026, Sadie Coles HQ announced Swiss Institute's 40th anniversary exhibition 'Regift' at LUMA Westbau in Zurich. Co-produced by Swiss Institute and Luma Foundation, the exhibition revisits the 2009 original organized by John Miller and Piper Marshall at SI in New York. It features over 50 artists across two floors, reflecting four decades of SI's programming and international networks. Curated by Alison Coplan, Stefanie Hessler, and John Miller, the show explores gift exchange, reciprocity, and systems of value, and will be on view until September 6, 2026.
The Signal
The anniversary edition expands the original inquiry to include rituals of giving, spiritual observances, and global exchange practices across generations and cultures. For collectors and artists, this marks a significant institutional milestone that highlights SI's enduring role in fostering critical discourse around social and economic relations. The exhibition brings together a diverse roster of artists, from established figures like Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Mike Kelley to emerging voices, underscoring the continued relevance of themes of reciprocity in contemporary art.
