Stedelijk Museum and Mondriaan Fund Announce Nominees for Prix de Rome Visual Arts 2025
The Mondriaan Fund announced on May 8, 2025 the shortlist for the Prix de Rome Visual Arts 2025, naming Fiona Lutjenhuis, Kevin Osepa, Thierry Oussou and Buhlebezwe Siwani as nominees. The four artists will each receive a production budget to create new work, with the winner selected by a jury of six members including Colin Huizing, Imara Limon and Rita Ouédraogo. The winning artist receives a €60,000 cash award, and all new work goes on display at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam from November 29, 2025. The jury selected the nominees after visiting exhibitions over the past year and cited each artist’s distinct visual language and contribution to visual art in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Signal
The Prix de Rome serves as a key platform for emerging artists from the Netherlands and Caribbean Netherlands, with the Mondriaan Fund organizing the award since 2012 in collaboration with the Stedelijk. For collectors and curators the shortlist signals rising talent whose practices address spirituality, colonial memory, labor and personal narrative, offering early visibility ahead of the November exhibition and potential acquisition opportunities as the artists complete new commissions.
