Stedelijk Museum Completes Restoration of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner Masterpiece via Bank of America Grant
The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam has completed a multi-month restoration of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s 1910/26 painting 'Nacktes Mädchen Hinter Vorhang (Fränzi)'. Funded by the Bank of America Art Conservation Project, the treatment addressed significant paint flaking caused by the artist's experimental use of wax and turpentine on jute canvas. The work has returned to public display within the museum’s permanent collection presentation, 'Yesterday Today – Collection Until 1950'.
