Stedelijk Museum to Present Major Sandra Mujinga Installation 'Skin to Skin' in September
The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam presents the exhibition Sandra Mujinga – Skin to Skin from September 13, 2025 to January 11, 2026. Norwegian artist Sandra Mujinga transforms the museum's lower-level gallery into an otherworldly realm featuring 55 identical figures using sound, light, mirrors and sculptures. The installation explores themes of concealment, identity and surveillance of Black bodies through hybrid creatures that question visibility in digital and physical spaces. The exhibition is organized with Belvedere, Vienna and curated by Melanie Bühler and Axel Köhne.
The Signal
This exhibition signals growing institutional interest in artists working at the intersection of technology, identity and speculative futures. For collectors, it underscores Mujinga's rising profile following her appearances at major venues including the Venice Biennale and Guggenheim Museum. The work's focus on digital multiplicity offers timely commentary on how identities are replicated and perceived in contemporary society.
