Tate Britain Acquires Major Bridget Riley Painting as Gift from the Artist
Tate has received the gift of Bridget Riley's Concerto I 2024, donated by the artist. The painting joins Tate's holdings of her work spanning six decades and premieres in a new display at Tate Britain running until 7 June 2026. The display also includes Fall 1963, which has received sustainable conservation treatment as part of the GREENART project.
The Signal
The acquisition marks the first Riley work created in this decade to enter the collection and builds on a relationship that includes prior displays in 1973, 1994 and 2003. It expands institutional representation of the artist's recent engagement with colour and form while underscoring Tate Britain's strategy of regularly changing collection displays since the 2023 rehang.
