Tate Britain Announces Major Turner and Constable Exhibition and Free Entry for London Taxi Drivers
Tate Britain is offering free admission to its exhibition Turner and Constable to London’s licensed taxi drivers who show their badge or TfL Private Hire ID. The show runs at Tate Britain from 27 November 2025 to 12 April 2026 and marks the 250th anniversaries of the births of JMW Turner and John Constable. Key loans include Constable’s The White Horse from 1819 and Turner’s The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons from 1835, neither of which has been seen in Britain for decades. The exhibition is curated by Amy Concannon with Nicole Cochrane and Bethany Husband and is presented in partnership with LVMH.
The Signal
The free-ticket scheme for cab drivers continues Tate’s long-standing local engagement that began with the 2000 opening of Tate Modern and extends to conversations about the Turner Prize at Tate Liverpool. For collectors and curators the pairing of the two artists’ major works provides a rare side-by-side view of how they were received and how their landscapes shaped national imagery. The initiative also signals Tate Britain’s strategy of widening access to historic British art through community networks rather than conventional marketing channels.
