Tate Modern Announces New Turbine Hall Commissions by Linda Bell and Lina Lapelytė for UNIQLO Tate Play
Tate Modern has launched two new projects for its UNIQLO Tate Play programme in the Turbine Hall. From 28 March to 12 April 2026 visitors can create sculptures using everyday materials in a project conceived with ActionSpace and inspired by British artist Linda Bell. From 25 July to 31 August 2026 Lithuanian artist and composer Lina Lapelytė presents a large-scale participatory performance inviting visitors to move through barriers while stomping, jumping and singing to a soundscape.
The Signal
The programme, which has commissioned projects by Rasheed Araeen, Yayoi Kusama, Oscar Murillo and Monster Chetwynd since its 2021 launch and attracted over 730,000 participants, continues a partnership with UNIQLO that also includes a new Curated by Tate T-shirt collection available worldwide from March 2026. The commissions extend Tate Modern’s strategy of free, family-oriented activities that treat art and play as accessible to all ages while expanding the Turbine Hall’s role as a site for collective, interactive work.
