Tate Modern to Host Largest Tracey Emin Survey Exhibition 'A Second Life' in 2026
Tate Modern presents the largest ever survey of Dame Tracey Emin, titled Tracey Emin: A Second Life, opening February 27, 2026, and running through August 31, 2026, in the Eyal Ofer Galleries. The exhibition brings together over 100 works spanning 40 years of her practice, from 1990s installations such as My Bed and Exorcism of the Last Painting I Ever Made to recent paintings, bronzes and photographs shown for the first time. It traces key life events including her connection to Margate, experiences of trauma and her recovery from cancer, and is curated by Maria Balshaw, Alvin Li and Jess Baxter in partnership with Gucci.
The Signal
The survey marks a career benchmark for Emin following her 2024 Damehood and recent health challenges, positioning her confessional practice within a major public institution and offering collectors visibility into her shift toward large-scale painting and bronze sculpture. The inclusion of previously unseen works such as The Last of the Gold and Ascension signals sustained institutional interest in her evolving output and may influence market focus on post-2020 pieces. The Gucci partnership reflects broader patterns of luxury-brand support for high-profile contemporary exhibitions at Tate.
